Battlefield 6 patch notes
What actually changed in the 1.4.x updates — guns, water, and maps.
This page is a player-facing summary of Season 4’s numbered updates, not a paste of every bullet from EA’s blog. Use it when a gun feels wrong or a map suddenly plays different. The narrative of the season lives on Season 4. Official source links live on the links hub.
Always confirm the live client version in the main menu. If your number is newer than what is listed here, the missing notes are on EA’s Battlefield blog and the in-game news ticker.
Update 1.4.1.0 — July 21, 2026 (Season 4 launch)
This is the big one. It shipped Tsuru Reef, the dynamic wave system, RHIB and RCB-90, BROD 3, EF88, VSSM, and a long list of water-interaction work.
Combat notes that still matter months later:
- Projectiles interacting with water now lose damage; enough water can zero a shot. Stop trying to snipe through a reef.
- Vehicle-on-water handling was rebuilt for the new maps. IFVs that swim are not boats. Boats are boats.
- Movement and gunplay polish landed on top of the earlier 1.3.3.0 recoil/TTK overhaul. If you are returning from 2025, this is why your launch muscle memory is lying.
- Map collision fixes on Railway to Golmud (objects near B, C, and E) shipped in the same bundle.
- Commander tactical advice returned to Obliteration modes.
If you only remember one sentence: Season 4 is a water patch sitting on last season’s gun patch.
Update 1.4.2.0 — August 18, 2026 (Wake Island / Top Gun)
Content: Wake Island, Carrier Strike, Fighter Sweep, two-seat jets, Interdictor sniper, REDSEC carrier POI.
Weapon notes in the same drop touched EF88, VSSM, BROD 3, LMR27, RPK-74M, and NVO-228E. That is why a July loadout video can be slightly wrong in September even if the S-tier names did not change. After this patch, rebuild those guns from loadouts if you still had launch attachments on them.
Portal custom lobbies and spectator mode are the quality-of-life headline for people who host, not for people who only queue Conquest.
Update 1.4.2.5 — September 1, 2026
EA described this as targeted reliability, not a balance pass. The one weapon line worth carving into a gunsmith: Match Trigger no longer affects fully automatic fire on BROD and EF88. If your Season 4 rifle build used Match Trigger as a secret fire-rate bump, it does not anymore. Swap the attachment.
The rest of 1.4.2.5 is vehicles, gadgets, Portal lobbies, UI, and stability. Do not expect a new meta from it. Do expect fewer broken custom games.
Tidal Strike — September 15, 2026
This is Season 4 Phase 3, not a new map pack. The player-facing list lives on the Tidal Strike page. Combat-facing bullets from EA’s community update and follow-up coverage:
- Tsuru Reef Breakthrough: capture zones move, extra boat flanks, spawn and vehicle retunes so attackers can actually take a foothold.
- Reticle pass: sharper optics on light surfaces, thinner crosshairs, less glow on small arms, launchers, and gadgets.
- Vehicle feel: RCB-90 oversteer cut, aircraft miniguns less greedy into boats and APCs, Little Bird cannon overheats faster, IGLA lock UI no longer spoils the shot for pilots.
- REDSEC: first proximity chat iteration in Battle Royale, plus AFK and leave penalties in designated playlists.
- Events: Deep Six collection chase, then a two-week anniversary event later in September.
When the numbered client is in your menu, paste the exact gun lines here from EA’s blog. Until then, do not rebuild the weapon tier list because a shader changed. Do rebuild your Breakthrough routes on the reef.
How to react (and how not to)
- Do open the weapon tier list after a patch that names more than two guns.
- Do fix BROD / EF88 if you used Match Trigger for full-auto.
- Do not delete your M16 or KORD because a boat map launched.
- Do not chase Portal mutators as if they were the competitive sandbox.
XP weekends and Twitch drops are not patches. They are listed on codes. New maps are explained like maps on maps, not like hotfixes.
If a patch brick-walls your PC, verify TPM and Secure Boot still pass — system requirements — before you repair-install. Most “the update broke my game” tickets on PC are still boot-security or GPU driver lag, not a missing 2 GB file.
