Vehicles Combat Guide

Vehicles are why Battlefield 6 is not a corridor shooter. A good tank crew will hold a flag that ten infantry cannot. A bad jet will farm your spawn until an Engineer looks up. Season 4 added a full water layer, so “vehicle” now includes the 7.7m NSW RHIB and the RCB-90 patrol boat alongside the tanks and aircraft you already knew. This page is the field manual. For map context use maps. For the person holding the repair torch, use the class guide.

The six families

EA groups vehicles into anti-air, helicopters, jets, tanks and ground attack vehicles, transports, and naval craft. In practice you will meet:

  • Main battle tanks — M1A2 SEPV3 for NATO, LEO A4 for Pax Armata. Same unlock tree, small handling differences. Driver owns the cannon; a gunner owns the remote weapon. Reactive armor and a projectile intercept system beat a third cosmetic slot.
  • IFVs — faster, worse against heavy armor, better at dumping infantry. Amphibious behavior matters on Tsuru Reef; do not assume every IFV wants to swim into a patrol boat.
  • Attack helicopters and transports — attack birds delete tanks that never look up. Transports win games by putting a squad on a roof nobody walked to.
  • Jets — air superiority and ground strikes. Season 4’s Top Gun window added two-seaters (F/A-81F Super Spectre, F-74A Seacat) and modes that exist to make you fly. If you cannot take off without stalling, stay on the ground until you practice in a custom range.
  • Mobile AA — the unglamorous answer to the helicopter problem. One competent AA player changes a map more than another sniper.
  • Boats — RHIB for fast inserts and a mounted gun; RCB-90 for actual water fights, mortars, and mines. These are not novelties on Tsuru Reef and Wake Island. They are the rotation.

Seats, repairs, and not feeding tickets

A tank with only a driver is half a tank. If you spawn one, ping the gunner seat. If you are infantry next to an empty gunner seat, get in — your rifle is not doing more work than that MG.

Engineers repair. Everyone else should stop standing in the open with a torch they do not have. Repair from cover, at the rear or side, and bail when the hull is on fire and the enemy still has a launcher angle. A dead tank is a ticket. A scuttled tank you walked away from is a lesson.

Mines belong on ramps, bridge throats, and the waterline where boats have to slow down. Random mines in a field that nobody drives through are a waste of a gadget slot.

Loadouts that matter

Open the Loadouts tab, then Vehicles, then the specific hull. You pick shells, coaxial guns, equipment, and upgrades. A simple anti-armor tank kit is multi-purpose HE plus armor-piercing, a heavy coaxial, projectile intercept, and faster reload. A simple infantry-support kit leans HE, a lighter coaxial, emergency repair, and a gunner grenade launcher. Do not mix them because a menu looked busy.

Helicopters need a plan for flares versus extra damage. Jets need a plan for dogfight missiles versus ground munitions. If you swap every death, you never learn the envelope.

The vehicle tier list ranks how much these platforms matter on the current map pool. The loadouts page stays focused on infantry guns; come here for hulls.

Season 4 water

The dynamic wave system is not a screenshot filter. Waves hide small boats, throw off gun aim, and change whether a beach is a ramp or a wall. Bullets lose damage underwater; do not farm fish. Incendiary tricks that worked on land do not set the ocean floor on fire anymore — the patch notes killed that.

On Tsuru Reef, a patrol boat with an Engineer and a Support can move a squad between islands faster than any respawn-and-sprint. On Wake Island, the docks and the wreck are vehicle arguments, not scenery. Carrier Strike makes the flight deck a spawn logic problem: protect it or lose the air game.

How infantry should think about vehicles

If you are not in a vehicle, you still have a vehicle job. Assault can ignore a tank that is not looking at their building. Support should not revive under its cannon. Recon C-4 still deletes armor that thinks a hill is stealth. Engineer is the class that should be looking at every engine sound.

A 64-player round is a supply chain. Tanks need repairs. Helicopters need AA pressure. Boats need a destination, not a joyride. If your team’s armor keeps dying in the same street, stop spawning another tank into the same street. Change the class, change the angle, or play the maps guide for a flag that armor cannot see.

New players: do not make your first hour a jet school. Use getting started, spawn in an IFV gunner seat, and learn the map from a hatch before you request a fighter.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Battlefield 6 questions.

Do I need to be Engineer to use vehicles?

No. Anyone can drive. Engineer is the class that repairs and kills enemy armor efficiently. On vehicle maps you still want at least one.

Are NATO and Pax tanks different?

Slightly in handling and silhouette, not in unlocks. Treat the M1A2 and LEO A4 as the same tree with different bodywork.

When did boats come back?

Season 4 on July 21, 2026, with Tsuru Reef. Wake Island followed on August 18. See Season 4 for the modes that use them.
